Bangladesh Income Tax Calculator
Estimate your Bangladesh individual income tax slab-by-slab under the Finance Act 2026. This is an estimate, not tax advice.
Calculator & Result
Illustrative estimate only, for Assessment Years 2026-27 and 2027-28 under the Finance Act 2026. This is not tax, legal, lending, or investment advice; verify the rules that apply to you with the NBR or a tax professional.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your annual taxable income in taka (BDT) — that is, your income after exemptions, not your gross salary. If you are a salaried employee, the salary exemption (one-third of salary income, up to Tk 500,000) is already reflected in the taxable income you enter here.
- Choose your taxpayer category. The tax-free threshold depends on it: Tk 400,000 for a general individual, Tk 450,000 for a woman or a senior citizen aged 65 or above, Tk 525,000 for a person with disability or a third-gender taxpayer, and Tk 550,000 for a gazetted war-wounded freedom fighter or a gazetted July fighter.
- Optionally enter your eligible investment for the investment rebate, and say whether you are filing for the first time (first-time filers pay a lower minimum tax of Tk 1,000 instead of Tk 5,000).
- Read the total annual tax payable at the top of the results panel, plus the slab-by-slab breakdown, the monthly equivalent (total divided by 12) and the effective tax rate (total as a percentage of your taxable income).
Detailed Breakdown
This calculator uses the individual income tax structure enacted by the Finance Act 2026, which applies to Assessment Years 2026-27 and 2027-28 (the assessment year that taxes the income year 1 July 2025–30 June 2026, and the assessment year that taxes the income year 1 July 2026–30 June 2027, i.e. the current financial year). Both years share the same slabs.
Only the income above your tax-free threshold is taxed, slab by slab: the next Tk 300,000 at 10%, the next Tk 400,000 at 15%, the next Tk 500,000 at 20%, the next Tk 2,000,000 at 25%, and the balance at 30%. So a general taxpayer reaches the 30% band once taxable income passes Tk 3,600,000, and the tax on the first Tk 3,600,000 is Tk 690,000.
The investment rebate is the lowest of 3% of taxable income, 10% of eligible investment, and Tk 750,000, and it is subtracted from the slab tax (it can never make the tax negative). If your income exceeds the threshold, a minimum tax applies: Tk 5,000 normally, or Tk 1,000 if you are filing for the first time — the payable amount is the higher of the tax after rebate and the minimum tax. If your income is at or below the threshold, the tax is zero and no minimum tax applies.
Not included: the net-wealth surcharge. It applies on top of the slab tax when net wealth exceeds Tk 4 crore (10% above Tk 4 crore up to Tk 10 crore, 20% above Tk 10 crore up to Tk 20 crore, 30% above Tk 20 crore up to Tk 50 crore, 35% above Tk 50 crore), and it is also triggered by owning more than one motor car in your own name or house property over 8,000 sq ft. If any of these apply to you, treat this estimate as a lower bound and consult a tax professional.
Examples
Example 1 (the default inputs): a general taxpayer with Tk 1,200,000 taxable income. The first Tk 400,000 is tax-free; the next Tk 300,000 at 10% gives Tk 30,000; the next Tk 400,000 at 15% gives Tk 60,000; the remaining Tk 100,000 at 20% gives Tk 20,000. Slab tax Tk 110,000, no rebate, so the total is Tk 110,000 per year, Tk 9,166.67 per month, an effective rate of 9.1667%.
Example 2: a general taxpayer with Tk 350,000 taxable income is below the Tk 400,000 threshold, so the tax is Tk 0 and no minimum tax applies.
Example 3: a general taxpayer with Tk 5,000,000 taxable income and Tk 1,000,000 of eligible investment. Slab tax: Tk 30,000 + Tk 60,000 + Tk 100,000 + Tk 500,000 + Tk 420,000 (the remaining Tk 1,400,000 at 30%) = Tk 1,110,000. The rebate is the lowest of 3% of income (Tk 150,000), 10% of investment (Tk 100,000) and Tk 750,000, i.e. Tk 100,000. Total payable Tk 1,010,000 per year, Tk 84,166.67 per month, an effective rate of 20.2%.
Assumptions and Limitations
- This is an estimate, not tax advice and not a tax return. Rates and thresholds are taken from the Finance Act 2026 for Assessment Years 2026-27 and 2027-28; they can change in a later budget.
- Enter income after exemptions. The salary exemption (one-third of salary income, up to Tk 500,000) and other exemptions are not computed here.
- The net-wealth surcharge is excluded (see the Detailed Breakdown above). Capital gains, business income, and special regimes are not computed.
- The investment rebate uses the current limits (3% of income / 10% of investment / Tk 750,000 cap) and assumes the investment qualifies and the return is filed on time.
- A parent or legal guardian of a person with a disability gets an additional Tk 50,000 of tax-free threshold per eligible disabled child or dependent under statutory conditions; this category is not a separate option here — if it applies to you, add Tk 50,000 per eligible dependent to the threshold before using the calculator, or ask a tax professional.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Bangladesh Income Tax Calculator calculate?
It estimates the annual individual income tax on a taxable income you enter, slab by slab under the Finance Act 2026, including the investment rebate and the minimum tax. It shows the total annual tax, the monthly equivalent, the effective tax rate, and the full slab breakdown.
Which tax years does it apply to?
Assessment Years 2026-27 and 2027-28. The Finance Act 2026 fixed the same slabs for both years. Assessment Year 2026-27 taxes the income year 1 July 2025–30 June 2026, and Assessment Year 2027-28 taxes the income year 1 July 2026–30 June 2027.
What is the investment rebate?
A tax rebate for eligible investments (for example approved savings instruments and securities). It equals the lowest of 3% of your taxable income, 10% of your eligible investment, and Tk 750,000, and it is subtracted from your slab tax.
What about the net-wealth surcharge?
The surcharge is not computed here. It starts when net wealth exceeds Tk 4 crore (10% above Tk 4 crore up to Tk 10 crore, then 20%, 30% and 35% at higher wealth levels), and it is also triggered by owning more than one motor car or house property over 8,000 sq ft. If it applies to you, this estimate is a lower bound.
Is this a tax return?
No. This is an estimate for planning only. File your actual return through the National Board of Revenue (NBR) or with a qualified tax professional.
Why is my tax zero even though I earn a lot?
If your taxable income (after exemptions) is at or below your tax-free threshold, the tax is zero and no minimum tax applies. Check that you entered taxable income, not gross income.
